Danny Michel returns with his fifth album, Tales from the Invisible Man.  After several months living outside of Toronto in a rural community west of the city, impatient fans of Danny began to ask what he was up to.  On explaining his absence to others:  "The joke became that I was the invisible man.  I went off the radar for a year!"  And so that is how the title for this record was borne. 

Tales from the Invisible Man highlights Danny's diverse song-writing skills.  Whether it's the energetic pop-sounding "Two Hearts", the in-your-face "In Full Effect" or the country-inspired "When I Get Out", Danny Michel engages listeners with an album that's catchy and entertaining. And the song's penultimate track, "Would You Buy a Frame?"... Danny explains:  "It's ska!  Who's kidding who?"

It's tough to pick a favourite.  However, faced with a choice, I would single out Two Hearts because it is easily the most "singable" track on the album.  How can you not sing along with lines like "I got no beepers, no pagers / Just Farrah Fawcett-Lee Majors"??

Danny is set to tour across Canada this fall to promote the album.  I heard a sneak preview of this new album back in May when he played the Horseshoe Tavern and again on Labour Day for Mix 99.9FM's Beachfest. (Danny was kind enough to pose for a photograph with me  that day, as seen on the picture to the left.)  Danny returns to Toronto for dates at Lee's Palace on October 2nd and the Phoenix Concert Theatre on November 13th (with 54-40). 

When you pick up the CD, make sure you follow the advisement found on every one of his albums:  "Just say no to shuffle play".

Indeed Danny Michel is back "in full effect".
