SERVICE SUMMARY:

88 SOUTH LEASIDE is an accessible surface route that operates east from St. Clair Station on the YONGE-UNIVERSITY-SPADINA subway line to the Thorncliffe Park industrial park and residential areas.  All trips are scheduled to be served by low-floor accessible buses that operate out of Eglinton division.

There are four branches of the 88 SOUTH LEASIDE.  The 88 and 88A branches operate in opposite directions as they loop through Thorncliffe Park.  Combined service is provided west of Millwood Road.  Trips from St. Clair Stn alternate between the 88 and 88A branches.  Both branches serve the north Rosedale community along St. Clair Avenue, Welland Ave, and Moore Ave.  From Moore Avenue, the route jogs north into the South Leaside community on Bayview Avenue, Sutherland Drive.  At Millwood Rd the route splits: 88 buses turn north onto Millwood; 88A buses turn south onto Millwood.  The buses then loop through south Leaside via McRae Drive.  Crossing Laird Drive the 88 SOUTH LEASIDE enters the industrial community along Wicksteed Ave, Vanderhoof Ave, Leslie St, and Beth Nealson Drive until it reaches Overlea Blvd.  South of Overlea Blvd, buses loop via Thorncliffe Park Drive until reaching Overlea Blvd again.  The 88 branch returns to Sutherland Drive via west on Overlea and northwest on Southvale Drive, and north Millwood Rd.  The 88A branch uses the reverse routing.

The 88 and 88A branches provide service from the first trip at approximately 6:00am to the beginning of the evening at approximately 7:00pm.  Seven buses are used for the AM peak period and six buses provide service in the PM peak period.  During the midday period three buses provide 15-minute combined service over the two branches.

Beginning at approximately 7:00pm two buses provide 20-minute service over the 88B branch. The 88B branch operates via east on St. Clair, north on Welland, east on Moore, north on Bayview, east on Sutherland, south on Millwood, southeast on Southvale, east on Overlea to Thorncliffe Park Drive.  Buses loop clockwise over Thorncliffe Park Drive and return over the reverse routing back to St. Clair Stn.

Three late evening trips are provided by a short-turn branch, the 88C.  This branch operates as far as Laird Drive, looping via north on Millwood, east on McRae, south on Laird, and northwest on Southvale, and north on Millwood back to Sutherland Drive.  One bus offers 30-minute service at this time of the day.
